Go confidently in the direction of your dreams! Live the life you’ve imagined. -Thoreau

I’ve been reading nonstop about chemicals in makeup and skincare, hair and nail polishes. There are a ton of bad things that go into some of my very favorite makeup. Should I throw everything away? Never use this stuff again?

For now I’m using sparingly (my fave lipglosses are highly toxic!) but I have to admit, some of those chemicals even sound scary. Its hard to remember what’s bad and what’s okay, you practically have to keep a list with you to read what you should avoid. For the past month I have diligently avoided all skin cleansers, body soaps and shampoos, with sodium lauryl sulfates. This is probably the easiest place to start when you want to stop  using products that contain chemicals.

Here’s a good list of what to avoid. Make smart choices and read all labels on everything you put on your skin!

Mineral oil Methyl, Propyl, Butyl and Ethyl-Paraben Sodium Laurel Sulfate Benzene/Benzoic Acid/Benzyl Benzoate Dibutyl Phthalate Diazolidinyl Urea, Imidazolidinyl Urea Formaldehyde Isopropanol/Isopropyl Alcohol Lead Acetate Parabens Petrolatum and Petroleum Distillates Phthalates Propylene Glycol PVP/VA Copolymer Sodium Lauryl/Laureth Sulfate Stearalkonium Chloride Synthetic Colors Synthetic Fragrances

Dioxybenzone and oxybenzone

If you are so inclined to learn more, you can go here, http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com/ and type in the name of your favorite makeup, they will rate it from 1 which is non-toxic to 10 which is the worst.
