I’ve really enjoyed watching Tyler Henry’s show on the E! channel and was excited to read his book, Between Two Worlds. In case you don’t know, Tyler is a young medium who has been blessed with the gift of communicating with spirits. I am intrigued with spirituality and the idea that our loved ones are around us so both Tyler’s show and his book were very interesting to me!
I read this book within a day, its a slim memoir of how Tyler discovered that he could communicate with spirits and how he came to work in Hollywood and have his own super popular show where he “reads” celebrities. If he ever wants to read a writer, I’m here!
Here’s what you need to know:
Henry’s currently untitled memoir will reveal what living life as a medium is really like—from opening up about discovering his gift as an adolescent, to what it’s truly like to communicate with the departed. He also discusses the difficulty he had accepting his rare talents and the courage it took to share them with the world.
Tyler’s sweetness and kind heart really come through on the show and in the pages of this book. The book gives you a perspective on death and how life really goes on after loved ones die. Quick read and worth your time if you are into psychics and life after death!
I read that In A Cottage In A Wood by Cass Green was a thriller but in the beginning, it reads like women’s fiction then picks up the pace and you are glued to the pages wondering what is going to happen!
Neve is a troubled young woman who lives with her sister and family. She’s constantly making messes and having a hard time getting over a break up with her boyfriend. One cold, dark night, she encounters a mysterious woman on the Waterloo Bridge who hands an envelope to Neve. After she gives Neve the envelope, she jumps to her death. Flustered and upset, Neve drops the envelope and forgets about it until she gets a call from a lawyer.
The woman who jumped has left her cottage in the woods to Neve. It comes at the right time, Neve has lost her job and her sister can’t deal with Neve any longer. So Neve heads to the cottage which is in terrible shape with bars on the windows and a perpetually sinister vibe.
Here’s where the story picks up and I was reading quickly to see what happened. Why does Neve feel like she’s always being watched? What’s with the parking slip from a nearby prison? What do the neighbors know? Is she going crazy like the woman who jumped?
All of these questions are answered by the time you finish the story. I really enjoyed this book and read it quickly! Due out in 2018.
I am really really into mysteries, suspense, and thrillers lately. Exquisite by Sara Stovell caught my eye and it tops my To-Read list. The synopsis is super short so I’m not even sure exactly what the book is going to be about:
The synopsis is super short so I’m not even sure exactly what the book is going to be about:
Bo Luxton has it all—a loving family, a beautiful home in the Lake District, and a clutch of bestselling books to her name. Enter Alice Dark, an aspiring writer who is drifting through life, with a series of dead-end jobs and a freeloading boyfriend. When they meet at a writers’ retreat, the chemistry is instant, and a sinister relationship develops. Or does it?
I am very intrigued. It’s rare that I jump into a book and have no clue what its about so I’m excited to start this one and see how it plays out!
Another page-turning thriller to haunt me for days! The Innocent Wife by Amy Lloyd caught my attention with this description:
Twenty years ago Dennis Danson was arrested for the brutal murder of Holly Michaels in Florida’s Red River County. Now he’s the subject of a Making a Murderer-style true crime documentary that’s taking the world by storm – the filmmakers are whipping up a frenzy of coverage to uncover the truth and free the victim of a gross miscarriage of justice.
Samantha may be thousands of miles away in Britain, but she is as invested in Dennis’s case as any of his lawyers. Perhaps even more so, as her letters to the convicted killer grow ever more intimate. Soon she is leaving her life behind to marry Danson and campaign, as his wife, for his release.
But when the campaign is successful, and Dennis is freed, events begin to suggest that he may not be so innocent after all. How many girls went missing in Red River, and what does Dennis really know?
WHY am I so into these kinds of stories? I blame Gone Girl. I read that book and it started me on this path of wanting to get deep into the story of an unreliable narrator and try to figure out the plots of these books.
This is another book that is getting awesome reviews and I look forward to settling down with my dogs and reading it this afternoon!
Last but not least is MY book! The Blondes of Bel Air is finally out into the world as of yesterday and I am very excited for you to read it. I wrote an essay about the journey to getting this book published which you can read here.
Here’s the synopsis:
Lily Madison-Vaughn and Gemma Perry may not have wanted uber-unpopular Taylor French at their party—but they certainly didn’t want her dead. But when the unthinkable happens, Lily and Gemma fear for their futures and quickly shift into cover-up mode.
Meanwhile, television producer Freddy Levin blows into town to film a new reality show based on the privileged and glamorous students of Bel Air High. The missing student angle is too juicy for Freddy to resist. Lily and Gemma concoct an elaborate ruse to keep Taylor’s death a secret while they jockey for airtime and celeb status.
With cameras constantly rolling and their clique acting stranger and stranger, the girls search frantically for a way out of the mess they’ve made. But where do you turn when your popularity is on the line and everyone has a secret?
Kristen and I absolutely love reality shows on Bravo (The Real Housewives of everything) and luxurious name brand things so we combined all of these elements and wrote this book. It’s a Young Adult story but anyone can read it!
You can order it thru the publisher here or from Amazon here. Many thanks and deepest gratitude for any help you can give by spreading the word about this book or reading it.
