Over the years, I’ve talked so much about beauty products, skin care, and green beauty and I have tried thousands of products. When I learned about toxins in beauty products, I threw out everything I had. I felt like companies had fooled me by allowing parabens and other potentially harmful ingredients into their shampoos, lip glosses, hairsprays, and other personal care products.
I don’t like how so many products contain toxic ingredients and harmful chemicals. I went overboard on how strict I was with what I purchased, but it was impossible for me to keep up being completely 100% clean and green.
I try to use a lot of natural, organic products but allow myself the flexibility to use drugstore and conventional products when I see something that catches my eye.
Over the last several months I have used and loved these products!
- Rimmel Mascara
- Revlon Lipgloss
- Aveeno Face Wash
- Maybelline Foundation
- Elf Concealer
Let’s take a closer look!
Rimmel Wonder’fully Real Mascara
This mascara makes my lashes thick and long! The formula lasts all day and doesn’t smudge or flake. Sometimes if I apply it too quickly, it will get a little clumpy then I clean off the wand and slowly separate my lashes. I am on my second tube of this!
I paid only $6.99 for this mascara.
If you are looking for an awesome mascara that is green and clean, try W3LL PEOPLE which is a favorite of mine.
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss
This Revlon lipgloss is inexpensive, glossy and has a texture that isn’t sticky or tacky. I have two colors and keep them in constant rotation! This lipgloss retails for about $8.99
For a green, clean mineral based lip gloss, try Jane Iredale PureGloss Lip Gloss, I love this brand and recommend her products all the time.
Aveeno Ultra-Calming Foaming Cleanser
I didn’t have time to buy an organic cleanser online and needed something ASAP. As I was shopping at Target, I came across this cleanser from Aveeno. It’s “Ultra Calming” which I figured wouldn’t make my skin red, plus its fragrance-free.
I love it- it does a great job of removing makeup including mascara and it doesn’t bother my eyes. It’s definitely gentle to my sensitive skin. This was under $10.
A green, clean alternative is Josh Rosebrook’s cleanser which you can read all about here. It’s my very favorite! Trader Joe’s also has a wonderful cleanser that can be used from head to toe.
Maybelline Fit Me! Dewy & Smooth Foundation
When you are into your 40’s, you don’t want any foundation that is going to dry out the skin or settle into lines and wrinkles. I bought this on a whim and really like it. This Dewy + Smooth Foundation keeps skin looking healthy and hydrated but covers imperfections like age spots and scars.
You can build up coverage as needed. It blends well with concealer and it’s usually priced around $7.99.
A clean non-toxic alternative is W3LL People Foundation.
ELF Complete Coverage Concealer
When I dug into ingredients a few years ago, I was surprised to see that ELF offered some really nice, affordable, somewhat clean products. There are a few items I like from ELF like this concealer which I have in a light shade. You can blend and mix and create what you need to cover up your eye circles or blemishes. It’s long-wearing and I think the texture and consistency rivals higher end brands. Find ELF’s Complete Coverage Concealer at most drugstores for $3.00.
For a clean, non-toxic concealer, I absolutely LOVE Hynt Beauty’s – Duet Perfecting Concealer and recommend it!
