Here’s What’s New In Cruising

My husband absolutely loves to cruise and cannot get enough of travel on the high seas! While it has been a challenge for me with my gluten intolerance and other restrictions, I have found a lot of things to enjoy. I love relaxing and not worrying about cleaning, cooking, and everything involved in running a household. When you cruise, most of your concerns are taking care of and all you need to do is decide what activities you are in the mood for, or which excursions to choose from.

I know every cruise is different and offers up different luxuries and experiences. I was curious to see what the latest developments were in the world of cruising so keep reading to see what I discovered!

Royal Caribbean Symphony of the Seas

The biggest cruise ship in the world debuted this spring, The Symphony of the Seas from Royal Caribbean.  It is 230,000 gross tons in size and can carry over 6,000 guests! This ship features a ten-story slide, robot bartenders, an ice skating rink, an aqua theater, and twenty different restaurants!

This is the ideal ship if you have kids or like being active with tons of things to see and do.

The very best experience would probably be staying in a suite and carving out a luxurious experience for you and your family. The suite comes with a royal genie:  “Your Royal Genie doesn’t just tend to your suite – they make the entire ship your suite, crafting personalized VIP experiences tailored to your exact tastes. From planning the perfect date night to having your favorite wine waiting after a day of adventures ashore, your Royal Genie makes sure you have everything you want. And more than you ever imagined.”

If you are going to cruise on a huge ship, you might as well stay in style!

Symphony of the Seas sails to the Caribbean from Florida.

Norwegian Bliss

We’ve cruised over thirty times on Royal Caribbean and Celebrity and never any other line (my husband is very loyal!) so I don’t have the experience on other ships. Friends have cruised on Norwegian and raved about it. My dear travel blogging friend Pam at Always5Star has told me a lot of great things about this ship! Read her feature here.

The Norwegian Bliss sails between Alaska and the Caribbean. If you haven’t been on an Alaskan cruise, you must go. Alaska should be seen by everyone who loves to travel.

There will be ocean views from almost every venue, spacious and thoughtfully designed accommodations that fit with every cruiser’s needs, and a variety of exciting and engaging venues that will continue Norwegian’s history of innovation in providing the ultimate dining and entertainment experiences at sea.

Have you been on a Norwegian cruise?

Viking Orion

I have heard that Viking is a fabulous cruise line and I hope to experience first hand how wonderful it is!

Viking cruises sound so luxurious and elegant,  I get their emails and brochures and am eager to check out a vacation with them.

Smaller size plus personalized service coupled with wifi and laundry services, attention to detail, and larger staterooms earn this line a top spot on my travel wishlist.  This cruise line is constantly voted #1!

For now, I am  dreaming of the Viking Orion:

The Orion will have an aft infinity pool, thermal suite with snow room (complimentary), two story explorer’s lounge, and every stateroom comes with a private veranda.  One shore excursion in each port, Wi-Fi, specialty restaurants, thermal suite, laundry room, and 24/7 room service will all be complimentary.

Visit their website and take a 360-degree tour, it will make you want to leave tonight! Check out both the ocean and river cruises.

Celebrity Edge

The Celebrity Edge will be out in late December 2018. We’ve been on Celebrity and have enjoyed the top-notch service and luxurious details. Look at this sleek ship! Four main restaurants plus specialty and complimentary dining, they have something called “Eden” which is described as:

Three levels of sensory experiences completely wrapped in glass. Three stories of windows that look out to the ocean, with two areas of al fresco seating on both sides of Eden for breathing in the refreshing salt breezes.

With over 11,800 square feet of event space, Eden is the ideal location to host engaging business luncheons, magical wedding celebrations, inviting reunions, and any event you can dream up—all with a backdrop of million-dollar views.

The sheer size of Eden will amaze everyone who enters. It’s by far the grandest space we’ve ever designed that purposefully connects you to the sea—and the exciting destinations beyond.

A resort deck, rooftop garden, solarium, and much more await you on this modern ship. This ship travels to the Caribbean and Europe. View more here.
