As I’m sure you know, New York Fashion Week is happening RIGHT NOW! I can’t tell you how many exciting invites I received for backstage, parties, and cocktail hours. I’m flattered beyond belief!
However, I wonder if all the other beauty blogger girls were flown out and put up at hotels or did they pay for their own travel expenses? Perhaps next year I’ll make it out for Fashion Week, that would be a dream come true for this fashion and beauty lover! I better start sending out resumes for freelance writing jobs so I can make it happen.
If we can’t be there, then at least we can view some pictures. Below, find some pictures and makeup/hair tips from New York Fashion Week!
Vivienne Tam Spring 2010
Lead hairstylist Nexxus® Salon Hair Care Creative Director Kevin Mancuso, created a chic look, inspired by the natural glamour of the 70’s and free-spirited Woodstock generation, with free-formed waves and a voluminous silhouette.
How-to Get the Look:
Prep: Distribute a lightweight, curl enhancing foam, like Nexxus Gorgeous Curls, throughout hair to add body and enhance natural curls and waves. This will also help to support the structure of the style. Flip hair upside down and blow dry, while running fingers through hair to create texture.
Style: Once dry, flip hair back and create a center part. Use fingers to smooth and flatten the crown of the hair. Hair should be smooth for 1-2 inches from the root, and then billow out with volume from the forehead down.
Take 1-inch sections of the hair and use a large barrel curling iron to create big, loose waves throughout the bottom half and underneath the hair. To curl the top half, use a small barrel curling iron.
Finish Use a wide tooth comb or brush to brush out the curls. Lift the hair up and away from the root as you’re brushing to maximize the volume. Finish look with another spray of Nexxus Comb Thru to keep style looking runway-ready all day long.
Diego Binetti’s Spring ‘10 Collection
Apply Sebastian Professional Thickefy Foam to damp hair; blend evenly throughout. Blow hair out straight with a medium to large-sized round brush, spray hair with flexible hairspray for added texture; section hair, and set with large velcro rollers
Sebastian Professional lead stylist Thomas Dunkin adds a touch of disarray to structured braids for a modern twist. The asymmetrical pattern and haphazard positioning of the braids represents unique individualism and carefree youth. Here’s how to take this runway look to real life:
Take out pins, apply Microweb Fiber to hair, focusing most of the distribution towards the top of the head for lift and malleable texture. Clip top half of hair aside.
French braid bottom half of hair starting behind left ear. Pull down top half of hair and pin pieces into french braid updo for playful positioning. Finish look with Shine Define for shiny finish and lasting hold.
Dick Page, Shiseido’s Artistic Director gives us tips on how to get the look from United Bamboo!!
Lips were prepped with Aquafor and a dab of foundation to soften the pink of the lips. Next, the new Perfect Rouge Glowing Matte Lipstick in Whisper (RD722) from the Spring 2010 Makeup Collection was applied like a lip liner and patted to fill in the rest of the lip Dick used the Smoothing Eyeliner Pencil in Brown (BR602) to the upper and lower lash lines, blending with a brush. To give a softer look, he applied the Luminizing Satin Eye Color in Cavern (BR708) from the Fall 2009 Makeup Collection over the Smoothing Eyeliner Pencil.
Dick lightly applied Shiseido Makeup Dual Balancing Foundation where needed. He then applied a Translucent Loose Powder over the entire face to create a smooth, matte surface. He then dusted the new Luminizing Satin Face Color in High Beam White (WT905) and Soft Beam Gold (BE206) under the eyes and cheeks, and applied more Soft Beam Gold contouring the cheeks.

Did this girl get her start on reality tv? Because she is everywhere now!
Kim Kardashian at Badgley Mischka. Not so much a fan of her outfit but I think she’s stunning.
