5 Tips on Caring for Your Skin This Summer

1. Avoid being in the sun without a good sunscreen

I highly recommend Glytone Sunscreen Lotion, Broad Spectrum SPF 40. I absolutely love Glytone’s line of skincare and this one in particular as I apply sunscreen almost every day. I like to make sure my hands, neck, and chest have sun protection because these areas show age quickly, especially once you get into your mid-thirties.

Usually, I wear foundation with sunscreen in it but if I don’t, a thin layer of this works well. I like that it contains Hyaluronic Acid, plus is fragrance-free which is excellent since many scents bother me, I know this is an issue for other people too.

Here is the official information on this fantastic sunscreen:

A lightweight, moisturizing sunscreen, designed to protect the skin from UVA and UVB rays. It reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and it’s ideal for daily use on all skin types. This formula is recommended for use in conjunction with aesthetic treatments and procedures such as chemical peels.

Every morning I apply a small amount on my face, followed by everywhere else that is going to be exposed. I am so happy that this is very light which makes it perfect for under makeup. It doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin either.  Find more information here and save $$$ with the coupon!

2. Always remove makeup before bed

Even when I am at my most exhausted, I will remove my makeup before I crawl into bed. It’s a must!   Your best bet is to wash your face or use a cleansing wipe then apply your skincare products and allow them to work their magic while you sleep.

3. Be sure to get at least 7-8 hours of a sleep every night

Your body is repairing itself while you sleep. At night is when cellular renewal takes place, the skin is working hard.

And did you know that not getting enough sleep is linked to weight gain? Sleep is very important for proper brain function too. Sleeping for shorter durations is associated with metabolism issues as well as heart attacks and strokes.

4. Use a Micro-Needler

Do you have one of these nifty tools? A microneedle basically punctures the top layer of skin with tiny needles.

Micro-Needling helps with producing collagen (which is needed to keep skin plump and healthy) and elastin which helps reduce wrinkles and fine lines. After a good micro-needle session, apply your skincare and its better absorbed. I know of people who have micro-needled their scars and stretch marks and have had great luck with fading and healing.

You can also help fade hyperpigmentation and age spots, by micro-needling, the top layer is skin is shed and makes way for healthier skin.

After reading about the benefits, I bought this one. I have seen people use it on their lower eyelids to reduce puffiness and also on lips to increase collagen!

5. Exfoliate

There is nothing like a really good exfoliation from head to toe! Exfoliation gets rid of any toxins and impurities on the skin plus it sweeps away dead skin cells. The result is a more glowing complexion. Exfoliation also stimulates the skin which results in cell renewal.

My favorite scrub used to exfoliate is this Acure Brightening Facial Scrub which I have purchased many times. If I am doing a body scrub, I like this one which smells incredibly good, I cannot get enough of it! I use it all over and concentrate on heels, knees, and elbows.
