Nyakio Skincare

I recently started using and loving Nyakio Skincare. This incredible line of products boasts ethically sourced ingredients from such exotic places as Zambia,  Mali, Ghana, Egypt, Spain, Brazil, and Peru.  Products are formulated without sulfates, phthalates, parabens, mineral oil, petrolatum, formaldehyde, butylene glycol.

Here’s what you need to know about this brand:

Inspired by her family of medicine men, farmers and educators, founder Nyakio Kamoche Grieco based her products on family recipes and skincare from around the world.

Grounded in ethically and sustainably sourced, indigenous ingredients, nyakio™ combines cultural traditions with modern, results-driven formulas to deliver premium personalized natural beauty and multi-tasking products.

“My beauty journey started when I was a young girl visiting my grandmother in Kenya,” said Nyakio. “She was a coffee farmer who taught me to crush coffee beans and rub them on my skin using a piece of sugarcane to remove dry skin. I’ve curated beauty secrets like this from my family, friends and travels around the world and translated them into a full line of skincare based on cultivated global beauty secrets, cultural traditions and ethically and sustainably sourced ingredients. Inspired by everything that’s been shared with me, I’m now sharing the best in global skincare with every woman.”

What  I’ve tried:

Sweet Almond Cleansing Oil Balm, I liberally apply this all over my face and let it soak in for a few minutes before washing off. My skin is very soft after using it and I always like an opportunity to add some much-needed moisture to my face as its been so cold outside!

African Black Soap Purifying Mud Mask draws out dirt and toxins, helps skin detox.  I like that this is soft in texture and spreads easily, it dries but doesn’t make your face feel tight. Skin is more radiant upon rinsing off.

Tamanu Firming Face Balm is my winter essential! I do my whole routine at night and before I go to bed, I will apply this balm all over my face and neck to lock in serious moisture while I sleep. I have really begun to love balms over the last couple of years. This one is made with pure, cold-processed tamanu oil along with shea butter, coconut oil, avocado and jojoba seed oils and more nurturing ingredients.

Baobab Youth Infused Daily Defense Crème is a lightweight cream geared for daily use, apply under makeup in the morning. Baobab oil contains vitamin A, E and omegas 3, 6 and 9. The cream contains oils, extracts, and butters that nourish the skin and hydrate without being heavy or greasy.

All the products smell really good and the packaging is so pretty, it opens up like a flower!

Nyakio is sold exclusively at Ulta! Go here for more information and to see all of the products in this gorgeous line. *I highly recommend the Firming Face Balm for bedtime so it can work while you sleep!
