“Ashley Greene, mark Brand Ambassador and spokesperson for mark’s m.powerment campaign, kicked off February’s National Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month to celebrate the new Youth Advisory Board formed by m.powerment by mark at the “Louder Than Words” event at the Avalon in Los Angeles yesterday.

m.powerment by mark is a philanthropic initiative dedicated to breaking the cycle of dating abuse and partner violence against young women. For more information, click here.

I particularly dig her side bun! She looks gorgeous and effortless. Let’s take a closer look at her makeup. Celebrity Makeup Artist Mai Quynh used the following on Ashley:

Face:
“I began by applying mark Calm & Composed Super-Soothing Moisturizer all over Ashley’s face. After creating a clean, moisturized base, I used mark Primed for Perfection Face Primer. Then, I applied mark Min-A-Real Cream-To-Powder Foundation in Natural using the mark Foundation Brush. To take care of any imperfections, I used mark Good Riddance Hook Up Concealer in Light/Medium under Ashley’s eyes and around her nose.”

Cheeks:
“For a soft, healthy flush, I brushed on mark Just Pinched Instant Blush Tint in Cheeky using the mark Foundation Brush to the apples of Ashley’s cheeks. Then, I dusted mark Matte-Nificent Oil-Absorbing Powder in Buff/Natural to set the look. For an extra glow factor, I layered mark Good Glowing Custom Pick Powder Blush in Cameo Glo using the mark Blush + Bronzer Brush.”

Eyes:
“I prepped Ashley’s eyes with mark Please Hold Eye Primer in Light/Medium. Next, I applied mark Keep it Going Longwear Eyeliner & Shadow in Exposure to her eyelid, from her lash line to her crease using the mark Flat Eyeliner Brush. Then, I applied mark I-Mark Custom Pick Eye Shadow in Java to her crease, blending it outward. To begin lining Ashley’s eyes, I used mark Keep it Going Longwear Eyeliner & Shadow in Entourage along her top and bottom lash lines using the mark Flat Eyeliner Brush. I extended the liner upwards and outwards for a cat eye effect. I finished Ashley’s eyes with two coats of mark Lash All You Want High-Volume Mascara in Black to her top and bottom lashes.”

Lips:
“For Ashley’s lips, I used mark Lipclick Full Color Lipstick in Toasty and mark Pro Gloss Hook Up Lip Gloss in Swell to create a gorgeous, natural smile.”

Women with gorgeous curly, kinky or wavy hair are often told that it’s problem hair, that we need to straighten it and abide by the rules of everyone else. I say, not a chance! Hair Rules is this terrific company that knows that curly, wavy and kinky hair is different–and that it should be celebrated. With Hair Rules, you shop by texture: wavy, curly, kinky or straight. Each of the products has been designed to go with a specific texture, including products so curly hair can go straight, wavy can go curly, and more. But wait, there’s more! If you color your hair or chemically treat it in any way, Hair Rules has special products for you, as well.

I first tried the Daily Cleansing Cream Moisturizing No Suds Shampoo. Curlyheads know that you don’t shampoo curly hair with regular shampoo because the suds strip out oils we need!  I loved this product which had honey, awapuhi and hops to keep curls moisturized and bouncy. The Quench Ultra Rich Conditioner has shea butter, honey, glycerin and coconut and olive oils to make parched, frizzy hair fabulous. The Leave-in Conditioner with honey and coconut oil refreshes hair and gives it a glossy mirror-like shine I loved. I also tried the Hydrating Finishing Cream, with olive oil job’s tears and honey, which made my hair soft and silky. The trick with this product is to use it on dry hair to add polish and shine!

Styling curly hair is always tricky, because curly hair tends to do what it wants, but I found that the Wavy Mousse Styling for Wavy Hair Textures gave my curls a good talking to and kept them beautifully in line! The only product I didn’t try was Blow Out Your Waves, because not having curls is a nightmare of mine, but I did give it to a friend to try and she is now thoroughly addicted.

So if you have ringlets, coils, spirals or kinks, live by the rules for beautiful hair: Hair Rules.

Lisa Marie Presley celebrated her birthday today at Graceland to launch the new “Elvis…Through His Daughter’s Eyes” Exhibit.

You can view more information and some photos by going here. I have always wanted to visit Graceland. I’ve never been to Memphis but I think it would be a lot of fun. I imagine that I would do all the super touristy things that people do when they visit Graceland.

If you want to copy Lisa Marie looking all sultry with her smoky eyes in the top photo, I have products detailed for you  below.  And bonus if you can sing the words to Viva Las Vegas (Not Viva Viagra as my daughter thought) !

China Glaze is coming out with an entire collection for what’s will be a major motion picture, The Hunger Games. Check out the colors above. What do you think?

Some beautiful colors for Valentine’s Day (or any day!) brought to you by China Glaze. From left to right is the pale pink color of Innocence, a deeper bright pink called Limbo Bimbo and a deep dark red Ravishing, Dahling. What kind of mood will you be in on Valentine’s Day? I’m thinking I will be painting my nails that dramatic dark red shade.

I love China Glaze nail polish, it lasts for a long time and has a superior consistency, its also used in nail salons all over the country!  There are lots of colors and products to choose from, take a look here. I  love painting my nails and when the polish lasts through multiple dish washings, dog brushing, cooking and cleaning, I know I’ve found a winner.

Sheer Cover Desert Classics Eye Palette

I’ve always stayed within safe range of my go-to eye shadow colors, and according the Merle Norman beauty consultant that gave me my very first make-up lesson in 1990, my “colors” were so boring!  Now, in my thirties, and caring so much less about what people may think of me and my personal style, I’ve dared to try all of the gorgeous shadows that would make Ms. Merle Norman pass out.  Dark purple and gold?  Bring it on!  Bright pink?  Why not?!

One of the latest to be added to my shadow collection is the Desert Classics Eye Palette by Sheer Cover.  I’m absolutely in love with this palette.  They are all rich, earthy, neutral tones that will give your eyes some serious smoldering impact!  My favorite of the six beautiful hues is Morning Blush, although Toasted Sand and Red Rock are on my eyes as we speak!

The Desert Classics Eye Palette by Sheer Cover has long lasting color and doesn’t crease!  The shadows go on silky smooth and the color stays vibrant all day.  For an added “umph” I dabbed a little shimmery shadow over the top and it brought out the amazing colors even more!  This is a palette that every gal should have in her make-up drawer!

I first heard about silk pillowcases on a website for curly hair. Silk, I was told, doesn’t ruffle the cuticles of your curls and can protect against split ends. I was thrilled to get a sample of a silk pillowcase from LovaSilk. These silky beautifies are naturally hypoallergenic and the smooth surface helps to reduce wrinkles, so you getting long-term benefits even as you snooze. This silk (100% mulberry) shimmers and shines and is so gorgeous, I stood around looking at the case and running the soft, supple fabric through my fingers, loving the feel of it, before I tried it out at night.

The case felt cooler against my skin, which I loved, and best of all, I noticed a difference in my hair as soon as I glanced in the mirror! My curls weren’t matted! The silk is machine washable, and it has an internal pocket to keep the pillow in place.

Sleep is 1/3 of our lives. I think we all should spend it sleeping on silk! Click here for more Lovasilk products.

And right now, you can use the code: Hellodollface for 10% off, including on sale items, good thru the end of the month!
