About Me

Cindy Bokma ( that’s me) is an award nominated blogger aka “Distressed Jeans” whose celebrity blog, Conversations About Famous People scored tons of hits, links on top websites, and viewers from all over the world. This was back when there were very few gossip sites online. I did a few radio shows, was written up in a variety of online magazines. It was fun while it lasted. I retired the site to focus on other work because quite frankly, how much can I talk about Brad and Angelina? The E! Channel called me in for screen test but I wasn’t too keen about being in front of the camera and discussing Tom “Xenu” Cruise and Britney “Bald Head” Spears. Behind the scenes is more my style. Way behind the scenes, like at my desk, alone in my office.

My first novel A Thousand Dollars for a Kiss was well received and featured on top celebrity gossip and humor sites. The book is about a vain, selfish writer who gets caught up in the life of a crazy popstar- with disastrous results. I completed the sequel as well as the screenplay and  am on what feels like a never ending quest for a great literary and film agent – if you know someone please send them my way. My  next story is a modern twist on the intrigue of Marilyn Monroe’s death. It’s got everything- comedy, drama, emotion, sisters, mothers/daughters, old people, young people, the glamour of the 1950’s Hollywood and present day Los Angeles. And there’s a romance.

I used to run  Conversations With Famous Writers, where I featured many best selling authors including but not limited to: Pamela Anderson, Jennifer Weiner, Jeannette Walls, Simon Doonan, Jessica Cutler, Jancee Dunn, Jane Heller, Janet Evanovich, Lauren Weisberger, Laura Dave, Allison Winn Scotch, Jean Godfrey June (Lucky magazine), Linda Wells (Allure magazine) and many more.

Because I can’t stop my beauty obsession, I run Hello Dollface, a beauty review website featuring the best brands and products on the market. My office is perpetually cluttered with glorious perfumes and colorful cosmetics which I happily review almost daily.

I am obsessed with movies, screenplays and books.

I grew up in suburban New Jersey where I dreamed of living in Hollywood. Now I live in California where I am fascinated with plastic surgery, fame, white teeth, and yoga.
