Do it, read it, see it!

I recently learned that the only way I was going to get rid of the fat on my body was to up the intensity of my work outs which quite honestly, sucks. I love to exercise at my own pace which is slow and leisurely and up until now, has worked quite well. But a slowing metabolism is forcing me against my will to kick it up a notch.

Recently I tried- and failed  miserably at the Dancing with the Stars workout videos. They go really fast and I made a complete idiot out of myself in my own living room. The dogs were laughing at me! I think prior dance experience or watching the dvd over and over agin might help. I never knew how amazingly uncoordinated I was until I popped that in and attempted to follow along.

I read about Jillian Michaels dvd’s on Amazon so I picked up the 30 Day Shred. There are three levels begining with the easiest which is Level One. You increase the difficulty as you go along. She seriously wants to kill you. You get no break and the workout, while only about twenty minutes, leaves you crying and gasping for breath. In other words, just what I needed.

Between Jillian’s workout, my Wii Active which also makes me want to crawl into a ball, and my weight- set, I think I might be okay for a while- fitness wise. I know the secret is to actually sweat a little and get your heart rate up but Im kind of lazy and would like the pounds to melt away just by thinking about it.

Ialways set aside time for reading. Most recently, I finished Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane. I wanted to read the book before I saw the movie and now I’ve ruined the suspense!

I’m really into Jami Attenberg’s newest novel called The Melting Season.  Her writing is beautiful. I aspire to write as well as she does. Pick up the book and give it a try- you will love it.

And last, I’m looking forward to seeing the movie, Valentine’s Day. Sometimes people call it “Valentimes Day” which is silly. Anyway, what other film would I want to see this month? It features a huge cast of actors we all know and it looks light and funny and girly. I want to see it with my best pals then head out for dinner where we can drink Cosmopolitans and talk about men. Just like Sex and the City! Except not. Because we are not in the city. Soccer Moms in the Suburbs is more like it.
