So much literature about health that I read points to algae as a miraculous source of beneficial nutrients. Check it out:
Algae is considered a superfood because it contains virtually every nutrient. It has over 60% protein content, over forty vitamins and minerals and a complete amino acid profile than beef or soybeans. It is also one of the best known food sources of beta-carotene, B vitamins, antioxidants and chlorophyll.
Spirulina algae is a cultivated algae which has been consumed for thousands of years by the indigenous peoples in Mexico and Africa. It has the highest concentration of protein earth – triple that of steak as well as the second highest concentration of an Essential Fatty Acid called GLA (second only to mother’s milk). Its nutrient profile is so similar to mothers milk, it is considered a “perfect food.”
Chlorella algae is harvested in fresh water tanks and has been used for over fifty years in Asia. It has a remarkable ability to help remove toxins and help build the immune system. All naturally. Chlorella contains over 40 nutrients including all the B vitamins, vitamin C, zinc and many minerals. It offers so many benefits we would never have enough room here to list them all.
Because I have been dealing with extreme fatigue, I need these to get through the day without a nap! In the founder’s bio, she says, “It all began when we learned that 97% of chronic illnesses in America were being caused by nutritional deficiencies.” That is a staggering statistic but one that completely makes sense as I research chronic health issues.
There are many benefits to taking these little spirulina/chlorella tablets such as bolstering up your immune system, decreasing toxins, and increasing energy levels. When I take them, I do notice a difference in how I feel.

I’ve spoken about how much I like Nubian Heritage products in the past and I always love when they come out with new items. Their combinations are so lovely and nourishing like this, Abyssinian Oil and Chia Seed. Their bath and body products are typically very luxurious and not toxic which I appreciate. They also don’t cost a fortune and are easy to find in the store or online.
I am a big fan of ancient remedies that utilize nature like this:
Abyssinian Oil was made famous by The Queen of Sheba, the ruler of ancient Ethiopia. Ancient superfoods, Chia Seed Oil and Amaranth Extract have been cultivated since the 16th century while Ginseng, rich in vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals, is used in traditional Chinese medicine.
Abyssinian Oil is very nourishing and I apply the lotion after my shower so it can sink in and remedy any dryness! I also like using the bar soap which doesn’t dry out the skin like so many conventional soaps. The Deodorant is great because it doesn’t contain aluminum, if you can do one thing for your health, stop using deodorant that contains this toxin!
I really like everything I try from Nubian Heritage, its one of the brands that I talk about when people email or reach out and ask for budget-friendly non-toxic recommendations. I’ve enjoyed trying the various collections and the one that is my very favorite because of the scent is the Patchouli and Buriti line! For more information please go here.
As I have mentioned many times, I maintain a 80/20 ratio with my beauty products. 80 percent of the time, I am using clean, green products and the other 20 percent, I buy conventional makeup. There is nothing I love more when it comes to skincare than brands that use natural ingredients but when we are talking about makeup I prefer not to box myself in and allow some impulse buys!
L’Oreal Paris is one of the brands I buy from and now they are introducing their line of Lumi Glow enhancers that give skin a pop of radiance. Think highlighters and radiance drops! There are sunkissed palettes, golden drops, highlight powder, and glow illuminator for every skin tone.
You can layer products and mix and match, for those who love playing around with cosmetics and getting creative, you can really have fun with these. I will use anything that highlighters or gives radiance very sparingly for a subtle look. The time when I like to use these products is when its spring and summer and I use them on my chest of legs for some highlights.
