I am always on the hunt for products to smooth my frizzy locks.
Here’s what I have been testing for the last month!
Kérastase Discipline Bain Fluidealiste is hair care that promises to smooth and nourish hair. Sulfate free, these products are luxurious, you’ve probably heard of many celebrity hhairdressers using Kerastase.
In the Kerastase Discipline line, there’s a Shampoo, Maskeratine Smooth-in-Motion Masque High Concentration, Fluidissime Complete Anti-Frizz Care Spray, Fondant Fluidealiste Smooth-in-Motion Care Conditioner.
I tried several items and really like how well they add moisture to my dry hair. Frizzy hair lacks hydration so you want to infuse hair with a lot of nurturing ingredients. Everything smells really good and I feel so fancy when I use anything from Kerastase!
The shampoo and conditioner are super creamy, the mask is for seriously dehydrated hair so if your locks are fine and thin, you will want to use a small amount! You will also want to know about Kerastase Essence D’Eclat which is a dry oil mist, ideal for after you have blow dried and styled your hair, spray this to tame excess frizz!
Alterna Haircare Bamboo Anti-Frizz AM/PM System is a neat frizz fighting duo. I applied the PM Overnight Smoothing Treatment at night and slept with my hair in a bun. When I woke up and washed my hair, it was very, very soft! Like cashmere.
This product contains “eco-certified Bamboo to strengthen hair as it smooths for more healthy, resilient hair” and helps to seal the cuticles so hair is smooth and silky. This cream uses “SmoothSeal technology” to deliver frizz-free locks.
The AM Blowout Balm is for the morning, after you shampoo and condition, run a little of this through damp hair and style. This product works “synergistically to help hair resist frizz and humidity for longer-lasting, sleek blowouts.”
This cream is not sticky and it won’t leave a residue, you only need a small amount to smooth hair. I used these products together and separate and they work well, my hair was definitely smoother and there was less frizz.
I also like the Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Dry Oil Mist. This lightweight mist is a great way to lightly add some shine and frizz control. I think it would be great for thicker hair as my fine locks drink this up and it’s easy to overdo. I spray it on my hands, then apply to the ends of my hair. It works best for me this way and doesn’t weigh my hair down.
CrazySmooth® Anti-Frizz Shampoo, CrazySmooth® Anti-Frizz Condition, RadicallySmooth® Anti-Frizz Serum products are amazing! I was surprised at how smooth and soft my hair was after using just the shampoo. These products are sulfate free and won’t strip color from hair.
These contain a “proprietary blend of exclusive oils including Camellia Oil from Japan and Abyssinian Oil from Africa, with seaweed and shea butter, instantly eliminates unruly frizz and infuses hair with extreme smoothness, shine and super healthy condition without weighing hair down.”
When your hair is thick and frizzy, you can really use any amount of product and hair will not be weighed down but when hair is thin and fine, you need to use a small amount. Luckily, the shampoo and conditioner did not weigh my hair down despite using a healthy amount of product.
I did, however, use a tiny amount of the serum, I was nervous to overdo it! When I used the whole system together, my hair was nearly 100% frizz free before running a curling iron through it. Miraculous!
Macadamia Professionals Nourishing Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner, as well as the Nourishing Mask infuse dry hair with macadamia oil and argan oil.
The shampoo is creamy and hydrating and contains a “Pro Oil Complex, a blend of Macadamia and Argan Oils to help strengthen and repair hair as well as Hazelnut and Avocado Oils to lock in moisture and nourish hair. In addition, it contains a combination of Vitamins A, C, and E to balance hair and help improve tensile strength after every wash.”
The conditioner helps to smooth out frizzy hair by infusing locks with intense hydration with the Pro Oil complex like the Shampoo, above. The rich fatty acids in the products deliver necessary nutrients to dry, porous hair.
The mask gives hair a super serious dose of conditioning power, I’d recommend leaving this on for as long as possible! It’s really beneficial for hair that’s super dry and color treated as it softens, de-frizzes, detangles.
Other amazing frizz fighters include:
Maple Holistics Natural Hair Conditioner which earns an A+ for smoothing hair and the Bedhead Control Freak Serum.
Surprisingly, Garnier Fructis Frizz Guard Spray and Smooth Blow Dry Anti-Frizz Cream worked incredibly well on frizz! I say surprisingly because these are the least expensive products of all and work great.
The Garnier Fructis cream left my hair very soft but not weighed down, I had zero frizz and my hair looked healthy and smooth. Typically I am an ingredient researcher but when it comes to fighting frizz, I am allowing myself to use whatever I want to get the smooth, beautiful hair I dream about! I also like the John Frieda frizz-busting products including the serums and creams. If you missed my review of BioSilk for remedying frizzy hair, go here to read it!
