Alaskan Cruise: Essentials, Beauty Edition

It’s impossible for me to limit my beauty products when I go on a trip, especially when that trip is two weeks!

What I typically do is get three large plastic zip lock baggies and use one each for skin, hair, body/teeth and use a large makeup bag for cosmetics. It’s a lot and probably adds an extra five pounds to my suitcase but I don’t want to forget anything especially what I need to smooth my hair and take proper care of my skin.

Here’s what I packed and I consider these absolute necessities.

Klorane Makeup Remover Wipes removes makeup without leaving any residue, they are perfect for on- the- go. You can use them to freshen up if you don’t have time for a complete shower. These wipes are my first step in removing makeup or if I needed to redo my makeup, I cleanse with these.

Josh Rosebrook Complete Moisture Cleanse is excellent for overall cleansing. This is a super gentle cleanser that leaves skin super soft. It’s a must have whether you are traveling or not. I also use the Hydrator Accelerator a few times a day for the aroma therapy benefits as well as the hydration. These might be created for the face but I use (sparingly) all over.

Josh Rosebrook Nutrient Day Cream, yes I was in Alaska where it was constantly overcast but I use this day cream because it’s so nurturing and light and it protects against any UVB/UVA rays that sneak through the clouds. I used it at night too since it’s so beneficial to the skin and really soothes and hydrates while I slept.

Age Defying Treatment Concealer

Klorane BB Eye Cream with Soothing Cornflower was an absolute must have. For some reason, while I was traveling I had huge eye bags and dark circles, I don’t know why.

I used this every morning to help eliminate my eye issues. I also used IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye concealer to erase the dark circles, AND I used the Osmosis Age Defying Treatment Concealer too.

When I was desperate, I bought Preparation H since I remembered reading how beauty pageant contestants used it for eye bags. I was desperate and tired of looking like a goblin! Not good for long term use but once in a while. Don’t believe me? Read this.

I always bring dry shampoo so I packed Klorane Dry Shampoo and SheaMoisture Peace Rose Nourish & Silken Dry Shampoo. Yes, I brought two dry shampoos. The Klorane cleanses hair and gives it volume while the SheaMoisture sops up any excess oil or serum.

I packed my sample sized Klorane Shampoo with Oat Milk which smells AMAZING and gave my dry hair much-needed moisture. I used it every day and it quickly became one of my favorite shampoos I’ve ever tried.

I cannot live without my Silk 18 Conditioner from Maple Holistics,  one of the only products that can smooth my frizzy hair and make it silky soft and smooth. I highly recommend this conditioner which is light enough to use daily (which I did). It’s infused with essential oils and silk amino acids. My hair is fine and thin so I don’t need anything too heavy or greasy- this is perfect.

ApHogee Keratin and Green Tea Restructurizer spray was used before blow drying to reduce breakage and split ends. Since I am on a quest to remedy my dry, frizzy hair, I didn’t want to be without this product which I think (?) is helping.

From Sally Beauty, I bought a sample size of  iThrive Weather Resistant Hairspray, I liked the light hold and the travel size was really small so it was ideal for packing in my bag.

And that’s not all!

I packed my Bed Head Control Freak Serum by TIGI to control the frizz and straighten the annoying wavy hair that turns to frizz when dry. This serum is pretty amazing and possibly one of my favorite anti-frizz products I’ve used lately. I used a tiny bit of John Frieda Serum on the ends of my hair to keep it soft and flat, I didn’t want super puffy hair.

And I also brought…

I brought along travel sized of LaLicious Shower Oil/Bubble bath for in the shower, Argan oil for legs and all over moisture, a sample sized deodorant along with my Cleo & Coco Detox Dust.

I always pack a little bag with my nail care essentials such as nail polish remover wipes, nail polish, nail files, clippers. Of course, I pack a toothbrush and toothpaste, dental floss and charcoal tablets which do double duty as a stomachache soother AND you can open the capsules and pour out the powder, mix with water and brush teeth for an instant tooth whitener. Warning- it’s very, very messy!

Because I take a load of supplements, I have a bag with me of my various pills and potions including Melatonin and CBD Oil to help me sleep.

Advanced Hydration Mask

When I got home, the first thing I did was apply the new Josh Rosebrook Advanced Hydration Mask. After traveling all day from Anchorage into LAX, my skin was crying for attention.

I massaged this into my skin, allowing it to infuse my lackluster face with some good energy and nutrients. There was a visible improvement, thank goodness! It takes a few days to catch up on rest when you’ve been traveling so I always recommend some gentle self-care if possible after a long trip.

And a lot of rest! What are your beauty must-have’s when you are away?
