I’ve been trying out the Ketogenic way of eating lately thanks to wanting to consume a low sugar/low carb diet. Keto is basically a high fat (healthy fats like avocado, coconut oil, pork rinds, bacon, eggs) and low carb diet which includes tons of healthy foods like flax, vegetables,  soups and so on.

Utilizing a beautifully created cookbook is key to success with any way of eating or diet plan.  I have two book here that I’ve been using again and again.

The Keto Diet: The Complete Guide to a High-Fat Diet, with More Than 125 Delectable Recipes and 5 Meal Plans to Shed Weight, Heal Your Body, and Regain Confidence by Leanne Vogel is a fantastic place to start if you are new to keto.  

This book is full of good information, the entire first half of the book details everything you need to know about ketogenic eating. Leanne includes an lengthy explanation of ketogenic dieting, why this high fat way of eating is good for the body, shopping for groceries, travel guides, help and troubleshooting, power foods and a chapter dedicated to fats and oils.

I love reading about health and trying to find ways to eat in a way that will fuel my body and keep me full. There are lots of really good recipes in this book and what makes it easier is that Leanne includes meal plans and shopping lists.

A few of my favorites include the Jambalaya, Bacon Wrapped Mini Meatloaves and Ranch Dressing recipe. You will find so much valuable information in this book that it should be a required purchase if you are going to go low-carb/ketogenic.

Quick & East Ketogenic Cooking by Maria Emmerich is another great resource. Maria also gives detailed information but slightly different than Leanne Vogel’s book so both of these are great to have on hand and learn a ton about ketogenic eating. I appreciate the weight loss /eating plan pages and the maintenance / healing meal plans, this makes food shopping so much easier!

A few of my favorites include the Dairy Free Chocolate Shake, Salad Nicoise, and Skillet Lasagna. The recipes are super easy with no complicated directions or hard-to-find ingredients.

There are loads of recipes, each one sounding more delicious than the next including desserts. Maria includes nutritional  information and tips too.

Both of these books have so much good advice about ketogenic eating and both have stunning layouts and photos that will inspire you to get in the kitchen.
