How horrifying would it be to discover your best childhood friend has been murdered? That’s the premise for Carolyn Murnick’s book, The Hot One. Ashley and Carolyn were best friends, as close as sisters, as they grew up in suburban New Jersey. As they got older, they grew apart as childhood friends do, and they went their separate ways; Ashley to Los Angeles and Carolyn to New York.

Ashley began working as a stripper and escort and when she and Carolyn met up again as adults, Carolyn was shocked at her friend. Years later, Carolyn learns that Ashley was murdered. As the killer stands trial, Carolyn goes to Los Angeles to cover the case and look for clues about her friend.

The story is gripping and sad and I cannot imagine what Carolyn went through emotionally as she looked into her friend’s murder. Wow. This book is due out in August!

Because I cannot get enough of suspense novels lately, I am very excited to start The Twilight Wife by A. J. Banner this weekend. This is getting great reviews and there’s nothing like a page turner on a rainy weekend, am I right? Here’s the premise:

Here’s the premise:

Thirty-four-year-old marine biologist Kyra Winthrop remembers nothing about the diving accident that left her with a complex form of memory loss. With only brief flashes of the last few years of her life, her world has narrowed to a few close friendships on the island where she lives with her devoted husband, Jacob.

But all is not what it seems. Kyra begins to have visions—or are they memories?—of a rocky marriage, broken promises, and cryptic relationships with the island residents, whom she believes to be her friends.

As Kyra races to uncover her past, the truth becomes a terrifying nightmare. A twisty, immersive thriller, The Twilight Wife will keep readers enthralled through the final, shocking twist.

This book has been described as fast-paced and a quick read. I am looking forward to it!

I am currently reading Filthy Rich by James Patterson, the story of Jeffrey Epstein. Since this name has been in the news lately (especially if you watch George Webb’s amazing videos on YouTube), I wanted to learn a little more and have some background information on this guy. I also really like true crime so I was immediately hooked on this story of scandals and money.

Here’s the 411:

A shocking true crime tale of money, power, and sex from the world’s most popular thriller writer.

Jeffrey Epstein rose from humble origins to the rarefied heights of New York City’s financial elite. A college dropout with an instinct for numbers–and for people–Epstein amassed his wealth through a combination of access and skill. But even after he had it all, Epstein wanted more. And that unceasing desire–especially a taste for young girls–resulted in his stunning fall from grace.

From Epstein himself, to the girls he employed as masseuses at his home, to the cops investigating the appalling charges against him, FILTHY RICH examines all sides of a case that scandalized one of America’s richest communities. An explosive true story, FILTHY RICH is a riveting account of wealth, power and the influence they bring to bear on the American justice system.

Im about 1/3 of the way through this book and I find it very interesting and quite disturbing!
