I’m on the lookout for super comfy shoes that have great arch support and can keep me going from morning until night. I’ve been scouring the internet for weeks trying to find blogs that address this issue.
I don’t want straight up orthopedic shoes but need good support and maximum comfort. I’ve found lots of amazing shoes and have tried many, but the look of them kept me from buying.
BUT. When you have lived through extreme pain in your back and hips from being on your feet for hours, you will happily invest time and money in finding the ideal pair that will aid in easing your discomfort.
When traveling, you are typically on your feet for hours at a time. It’s imperative for your back, spine, and foot health that you buy shoes with good arch support! Don’t wear a pair of flip- flops or cheap sneakers and expect to be comfortable. At best you can purchase arch support inserts for shoes you already own.
Above, is two Ahnu Karma shoes. These shoes are cork wrapped which means they keep feet cool in the heat. They are also light for packing and very comfortable!
Here’s what you will love about these- ergonomic EVA midsole gives lightweight support and they are durable for long strolls and various adventures.
The black runs true to size while the red seems a little big so maybe order down a half size BUT if you are going to be on your feet all day, the larger size might be ideal to accommodate foot swelling and discomfort.
Ordered these Dansko clogs but I’m not entirely sure they are my style! I am thinking of exchanging for a different Dansko sandal but…
…these are very well made and super comfortable with great support. The adjustable straps are a bonus, you can release the buckles if your feet swell and you need more room! They are also perfect with cuffed jeans.
Maybe I’ll keep them. If not, Zappos has a return policy that cannot be beat.
These Olu Kai slip-ons are very deceiving. You wouldn’t think they have a lot of support but they do. I put them on and wore them all day with zero discomfort. (also note the pants I’m wearing a tissue thin and perfect in the extreme heat. I bought them at TJ Maxx in the athletic clothes department)
The foot beds in these can be removed easily to wash or replace with a custom orthotic. There’s nice cushioning in the shoe and the back drops down so it’s more like a slipper.
I got them from a place called Lucky Feet where the sales person will run a diagnostic on your feet to see how you step, any foot issues and then advise on the correct shoes to wear for your health and comfort.
These Coolway USA sandals are so stylish and immediately make an outfit look fun! Wear them with anything from cuffed jeans to a summery sundress. The straps are very soft and they do not dig into feet. They are also light to pack in a suitcase.
These, above, are so cute in person. I love the design and the trendy lace-up. You can wear them with anything and they will look fantastic!
The shoes don’t have a lot of arch support so they are best for quick excursions and short walks. I wear them around town to run errands and am perfectly comfortable.
Coolway shoes are very comfortable and trendy, suitable for all ages. I wore my Coolway boots all fall and winter and many people stopped to ask me where I bought them! You can find them here!
I love TOMS shoes! I think I have about six pairs now.
These particular ones above, are super comfortable and I think they look good with jeans. There is arch support but not as padded as you might want for being on your feet all day or walking for miles.
I often find great TOMS deals online at Nordstrom Rack so keep your eyes peeled! The traditional TOMS are very light to pack, you can easily throw in three or four pairs without weighing your suitcase down.
Last but not least, Birkenstocks! I had the pair above for years before I actually wore them because I think my feet look super ugly but finally, I was desperate for shoes with support and pulled them out.
I’ve worn them a lot and now LOVE THEM. Somehow, they look good on everyone and go with almost everything. I wouldn’t wear them with a cocktail dress but with a sundress, shorts, jeans, maybe a denim skirt.
I tried on a few different styles at Lucky Feet and absolutely loved them. There’s great support for feet, legs, back and hips. There’s something very bohemian about Birkenstocks which I really like. They come in narrow sizes too which is nice for those with more slender feet. I am a solid size 7.5/8 in all shoes so I order a size 38 narrow in Birkenstocks and they fit like a glove.
Here’s a great page on finding your perfect size when buying them!
