I am thrilled that there are really, truly amazing makeup that works and is clean, non toxic and natural. I had heard so much about Kjaer Weis and Couleur Caramel and was super excited to get my hands on some cosmetics to try.
Lets look at Kjaer Weis first. This brand comes fro Danish born, New York based makeup artist Kirsten Kjaer Weis. She wanted to create safe, non toxic cosmetics without compromising integrity. And she did!
“Ultimately what I wanted to achieve was an alternative that fused beautiful color, texture and design with organic, non harmful formulas. I think it’s the way forward”.
The packaging is substantial in your hands, the gorgeous red boxes house a hefty silver compact where pigmented colors are nestled. The colors are rich, lip gloss is shiny and light- they work especially well with the Kjaer Weis lipbrush. The eye shadow is deep and long lasting, you would never guess these products are non toxic. The mascara offers a nice dark pigment and a formula that perfectly coats lashes and makes them dark but the look is still natural.
My favorite has to be the cream blush. Perfect creamy texture, the color I tried- Sun Touched, is an excellent marriage of pink/coral/bronze. It wakes up a tired face and lasts for hours.

Couleur Caramel is another non toxic brand. In fact, this one scores extremely low on the Skin Deep site. I was anxious to try out such natural and non toxic makeup. It didn’t disappoint.
The products are from the company Nature.cos described as “A natural organic cosmetics company that develops its products based on the 3 pillars of Sustainable Development: Society, the Environment andEconomics. Its objective: to create satisfaction by offering natural, leading-edge technology products at a reasonable price. The ambition: to change the world by allowing people to be responsible for their own consumption. ”
I tried two eye shadows which were both great- gave great smooth color and lasted for hours. They contain plant based ingredients and one hundred percent of the ingredients are natural in origin. The lip gloss was smooth, not sticky or gloopy but had a nice shine- this product is plant based too.
Eyeliners are hard to find when looking for totally natural. I don’t want one that’s too soft or too hard or an eyeliner that irritates my eyes. This one from Couleur Caramel was ideal- I could line my eyes precisely with no irritation. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this brand for those who have sensitive skin.
I like the simple packaging which is reflective of the natural cosmetics.
Another brand I can add to my growing list of natural makeup! You can find more here.
These two brands demonstrate that it IS possible to have luxurious, natural, organic makeup that works as well or even better than those found in department stores and drugstores.
