honey

Until recently I didn’t know about raw honey. I thought the little bear in the store with the label reading Honey was all there was.

I was wrong.

The honey in the stores, the one I used to buy, is not good for you. In fact, its right up there with plain old sugar. What you want to look for is RAW HONEY.

Raw honey is honey that has not been heated, pasteurized or processed. Its an alkaline-forming food that offers many health benefits and contains vitamins, enzymes and antioxidants, can be used internally and externally. When raw honey is processed, the wonderful and powerful nutrients are destroyed.

*Raw Honey contains anti-viral, anti-bacterial, and anti-fungal properties.

*Promotes body and digestive health

*Is a powerful antioxidant

*Strengthens the immune system

*Eliminates allergies

*Raw honey is an excellent remedy for skin wounds and all types of infections.

Raw honey can also stabilize blood pressure, balance sugar levels, relieve pain, calm nerves, and it has been used to treat ulcers. Raw honey is also an expectorant and anti-inflammatory and has been known to effectively treat respiratory conditions such as bronchitis and asthma. Oh my goodness, Raw Honey is amazing! (read more on the subject here)

Stay away from commercial honey which is easily found in the supermarkets and is that clear golden color that has been so processed that all the health benefits have literally been removed! Opt instead for the cloudy, creamy raw honey.

I have been using Really Raw Honey, a delicious and nutritious honey that is straight from the  bees! It contains bits of pollen, propolis, honeycomb and live enzymes making it ultra nutrient dense. I tried the Regular Honey and the Fermented Honey which has a slightly sour taste. Knowing that fermented foods are very good for the body, I eat a small spoonful of the fermented honey daily. Some people believe that fermented honey can help with digestive problems and that’s why I take it!

Really Raw Honey is creamy and sweet, do not be put off by the floating particles in it. I use this in my green tea and in my green juice smoothies! I love it and I think you will too! Find more here.

Since we are talking about Honey, I want to introduce you to Wild Honey Apothocary! Kat is the mastermind behind the brand and she knows the power of honey! Her products are 100% botanical based and cruelty free.

I tried one of Kat’s Honey Mud Masks which are made from bio dynamic honey, organic grape seed oil, organic aloe vera and pure argan oil. This skin softening mask boosts circulation and lightly exfoliates.

My favorite way to use it is on a slightly damp face, apply the honey mud and let it sit for about five to ten minutes, then rinse. Skin is softer and more radiant!

I let the mud mask sit long when I have pimples. You can find more honey goodness at the Wild Honey Apothocary here.
