You would think that being well over our  pimple infested teenage years that we’d never get zits again. Oh if only that were true. For me, if I eat fried food (rare but sometimes I love a french fry) or have any sugar, I will get a pimple or two. Sometimes there is no reason I can figure out and then I blame hormones. If I even touch Aspartame (Starbucks has been known to mess up my order and sweeten it), I get a really deep cystic acne.

I drink loads of water and clean my skin every morning and night but still, those unsightly pimples prevail. And when they do, here’s what I use.

May Lindstrom’s The Problem Solver. I have  a sample of this magic potion and when it runs out, I’m going to have to place an order for a full size ASAP (this is an investment as its $90). Her products are blends of all kinds of delicious and natural ingredients spun into heavenly scented goodness. This looks like finely ground dirt and when you add water, it becomes a paste of sorts. You apply to your skin and let it dry. Then rinse off and skin is glowing and somehow its received a dose of skin clearing properties that helps clear up any impurities.  I’ve been using it 2-3 times a week, on my T-zone which is oily and my face is very smooth.

Osmia Organics Spot Treatment is a natural treatment for acne. Before using it, I anticipated a strong scent, a stinging sensation  but I was wrong. This gentle pimple zapper is gentle thanks to a blend of essential oils. Unlike other spot treatments, this one doesn’t dry out the skin. Everything from Osmia is really truly incredible.

Annmarie Gianni’s Herbal oil for Acne prone or Oily Skin is a miracle worker. I began using this about two years ago and use it a few times a week to keep my skin in check. It helps with excess oil production, refines pores and is just an all around terrific product. Everything from this line is natural and made from essential oils and herbs. I use this in place of a moisturizer and like May Lindstrom’s The Problem Solver, it just keeps skin balanced and clean. I don’t ever want to be without this.

What is this strange suction cup thing? Well, its called a Bellabaci Cup and it has so many benefits that I have to share it with you! I was intrigued by these cups for use on the body, specifically cellulite. The cups increase blood flow and expel toxins which are then removed by the lymphatic system.

For the face, the cups help to cleanse pores, tighten and firm skin, refines pores, helps with circulation, increases product absorption and more. I like to apply a light facial oil like Annmarie Gianni’s, then go over my whole face with the cup. My skin instantly looks radiant and glowing.  It definitely gets the blood flowing! I try to use this a few times a week, especially when my skin is clogged or looking sallow or pale.

Because I think  diet, nutrition and skincare all go together, I try really hard to eat clean and consume tons of nutritious foods at every meal. The best acne fighting foods to eat include nuts, avocado, fennel, red grapes, garlic, broccoli, oranges and apples.
