As I’ve been talking to and getting emails from a variety of women, I’ve come to realize there are different types of beauty enthusiasts. Some people want just the bare essentials, others like myself are Recovering Toxic Beauty Addicts who have a slew of chemical laden products but are keen to revamp their style and go natural.
I present to you Beauty Products for Every Type. Which girl are you?
Extreme Beauty Minimalist
You only wear sunscreen and lipbalm, never paint your nails and hate wearing anything on your face except a simple night cream which you buy at the drugstore. You let your hair air dry and don’t use any styling products.
To go ultra natural, try using a dab of Coconut Oil on your hair as it air dries to nourish it. Use the jojoba and coconut oils to moisturize your face in the evening. To protect your skin during the day, try a natural sunscreen like Aubrey Organics Natural Sun SPF 30+ Green Tea Sunscreen. For lips, try one that offers shine but no color like Just Neem.
Just the Essentials
You have one foundation, one blush, one of everything and you only replenish as products run out. Simplicity is key! You want the basics.
I recommend Vapour Organic Beauty Atmosphere Soft Focus Foundation which will give you a dewy glow. RMS Lip2Cheek is perfect for you! It gives cheeks a flush of color and can be used on lips too. I love this in the shade of Promise. I haven’t used many natural mascaras but I can recommend 100% Pure black tea pigmented mascara or this mineral one from Pur Minerals, Big Blink (not completely organic/natural)
I was really impressed with Zen Society skincare. Its simple with organic ingredients. This brand is perfectly clean and eco-friendly!
A Little of Everything
You like to have a few different things at your fingertips depending on your mood. Its full makeup warfare everyday including primer right on down to nail polish.
I have proclaimed my love for Marie Veronique Organics products especially the Moisturizing Face Screen, SPF 30. Start there to give your face color and protect skin from the sun. Try a little of the Vapour Organic Beauty Atmosphere Luminous Foundation. I’ve been using RMS UnCover-up as a concealer, use on discoloration or under eye circles.
I haven’t experienced any organic eyeshadow yet! I’ve read great things about the natural Maia’s Mineral Makeup and I have to recommend again the 100% Pure Mascara. I’ve heard people talk about Zuzu Luxe mascara and Physicans Formula. I recently bought W3LL People Hypnotist Eyeliner and I like it.
I haven’t tried it but have read good reviews on Revolution Organics Freedom Glow Beauty Balm.
If you like a nice body lotion, try the lovely scented Lavender Body Lotion from Made From Earth. Nails? I really like the Sheswai nail polish shades I’ve tried and most recently, Vapour Organics nail polish.
Former Toxic Beauty Junkie Who Loves Makeup aka Beauty Glutton
I feel your pain! You probably have boxes and drawers bursting with makeup from every brand on the market. It takes a long, long time to find great organic beauty products and unfortunately they can be expensive. You can slow start to weed out all your toxic products and replace them with better choices. Over the course of two weekends, I completely purged my toxic products and felt great about doing it.
I am a big Annmarie Gianni skincare fan and have tried several products from her line. You can’t go wrong with any of it. Same with Marie Veronique and Osmia Organics. I just received some products from Nyl skincare and it looks promising!
After you weed out the really bad, toxic makeup -check the Skin Deep.org website to see where your fave products rank- then throw out anything with a moderate-high rating along with anything you’ve had for six months to a year.
Next check out the brands I have already mentioned. If you still haven’t satisfied your thirst for glamorous natural beauty products, check out these which I haven’t tried but they sure look good:
Studio 78 Paris and Kjaer Weis for face and eyes. For nails, Kure Bazaar. I have not tried many natural lip products and keep using the same ones I have over and over, RMS Lip2Cheek and Osmia Organics Luster! Over at Spirit Beauty Lounge, the Intelligent Nutrients Certified Organic Lip Delivery Antioxidant Gloss received a high rating and I’d love to give that one a whirl!
Acure Organics for hair, John Masters Organic for styling the hair. Jojoba and Coconut Oils for hair, skin and nails. If price is no option, try the Aroma M Camellia Hair Oil which is amazing, I love it and want more! For the body, S.O.A.P. (Scented, Organic, Artisan, Pure) products smell sooooooo good. If you love perfume, try Leila Lou. I can’t get enough of Rosie Jane.
I will be posting more as I try out and discover new brands but this should be enough to get you started. Do you have any natural/organic and cruelty free products to recommend?
