tea

I don’t snack a whole lot but when I do its usually something healthy- a spoonful of natural peanut butter, a healthy bar, a cup of tea and some sliced apples or I juice about 8-10 ounces of veggies and fruit which is filling and nutritious. Long ago I decided I wasn’t going to eat junk food- ever. The worst I get is a handful of Pop Chips. Kind of like with makeup, I decided I simply won’t wear cosmetics with nasty ingredients and I feel the same about my food.

I believe in beauty from the inside out. I know many dermatologists say there is no connection between food and skin but I strongly disagree. There are some foods that immediately show up in pimple form on my face- anything fried, greasy  or if I accidentally consume fake sugar like aspartame,  nutrasweet, splenda.

Every day is a new chance to be healthy and make nutritious choices.

You don’t have to read a label on fruits and vegetables so I tend to eat a lot of those. I currently have three giant bowls of fruit in my kitchen and even more in the fridge. But there are times when I want more than an apple or bowl of cherries.

Recently I had the chance to try Kusmi Tea in the BB Detox flavor. It contains green tea, mate and grapefruit. It was in a word- delicious! I loved the delicate hint of grapefruit which is extremely refreshing.  I love tea in the summer time, especially mid-afternoon.  The BB name comes from the Beauty Balms that are so popular right now. This Kusmi tea follows  “the example of BB creams, this Beauty Beverage caters to all your skin’s daily needs!”

I thought this was so good and I would definitely drink a cup every day if I had more teabags! I’d brew a giant batch to sip all day long.

Two delicious snack bars that I have become mildly obsessed with are the Thats It healthy fruit bar and Greek Yogurt bars from Rickland Orchards.

ThatsIt blends various combinations of fruits and smashes them into a single bar. These are kosher, vegan, non-GMO, and provide two servings of fruit in every bar. I could easily eat a couple at a time but I limit myself. These  bars are little treats for myself when I am out grocery shopping. I buy a couple, hide them from my kids and eat one when I get hungry.

I tried the Greek Yogurt Bars from Rickland Orchards recently and have quickly become addicted. I gravitated towards the Toasted Coconut flavor and it did not disappoint. It combines coconuts, pineapple, almonds and honey plus oats into a bar coated with Greek  yogurt. This bar contains 8 grams of sugar and 7 grams of proteins.

I was really surprised to learn that the beauty company Arbonne offers nutritional supplements and snacks. I had the chance to sample several items and liked them all. My favorites were the Fit Chews which helps give you energy and keep your stomach from grumbling!  The Herbal Detox tea was very good and this is another one I would drink daily. It contains nine botanicals to help support health. The Energy Fizz Sticks contains antioxidants and vitamins plus chromium to help boost energy.

I liked the Chocolate Nutrition Bar too. This one  contains “protein, fiber, vitamins and minerals. Its  packed with 15 vitamins and minerals, and is made with nutrient-rich quinoa and 9 grams of pea and rice protein, more digestible than soy or whey, the bar satisfies hunger faster and supports metabolism.”  There is also a vegan protein shake which  has 20 grams of vegan protein, plus 20 essential vitamins and minerals per serving. Find out more here.

If you are ready to be super hard core about how and what you eat, I recommend getting a copy of Kimberly Snyder’s Beauty Detox. She discusses what to eat  such as lots of greens in a smoothie and juice form, plus eating fruits on an empty stomach and food combining. I’m at the stage like with my makeup, where I’m ready to take my health to the next level. But that’s me- do what is comfortable and right for you, start with manageable steps and I’ll be here to cheer you on!
