I just downloaded a popular book that everyone on Goodreads seemed to love. On my kindle, I am at 33% and cannot get into this novel which makes me sad and also makes me feel like there’s someone wrong with me which there probably is! I think we are in different moods for different books and this particular one is no resonating with my current mood.

So last  night I stayed up looking on Amazon which is a dangerous thing to do because you can buy pretty much anything on there. I ended up looking for books to read that were similar to the book I just read, The Silver Star by Jeanette Walls, and  Saving CeCe Honeycutt by Beth Hoffman which I loved.

I came across this one that sounds so good I wanted to immediately download it but I didnt because my local library has it, The Improper Life of Bezellia Grove: A Novel by Susan Gregg Gilmore which looks to be a good dose of southern fiction taking place in the 1960s. We can stop there. Southern fiction in the 1960’s? I’m in. That book lead me to reading about books that I’ve already read!

Some favorites include:

Karen White’s novel Falling Home

The Language of Flowers: A Novel by Vanessa Diffenbaugh

The Kitchen House: A Novel by Kathleen Grissom

The Dry Grass of August by Anna Jean Mayhew

Whistling In the Dark by Lesley Kagen

If you are open to a young adult book, The Fault in Our Stars by John Green is a must read!

A Life of Bright Ideas by Sandra Kring which I want to read but its not in my library which means I have to buy it!

If you are looking for books that will seriously rock your world and make you not want to do anything but tune out the world, my MUST READS are The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls and Angela’s Ashes by Frank McCourt. I could go on and on and on listing some really fantastic books that I’ve read over the years!

You can read my review of Z: A Novel of Zelda Fitzgerald by going here.
