I am not talking about tap dancing here, I am talking about something called Emotional Freedom Technique. The idea is to tap, literally, on various parts of your body and repeat a positive affirmation. Tapping is a “psychological acupressure technique to optimize emotional health.” I am always looking to create a more positive well being, especially coming out of a challenging year. I’ve spent a few hours today learning more about this interesting technique.
Here is the official 411 on this technique from Dr. Mercola:
“EFT is a form of psychological acupressure, based on the same energy meridians used in traditional acupuncture to treat physical and emotional ailments for over five thousand years, but without the invasiveness of needles. Instead, simple tapping with the fingertips is used to input kinetic energy onto specific meridians on the head and chest while you think about your specific problem – whether it is a traumatic event, an addiction, pain, etc. — and voice positive affirmations.
This combination of tapping the energy meridians and voicing positive affirmation works to clear the “short-circuit” – the emotional block — from your body’s bioenergy system, thus restoring your mind and body’s balance, which is essential for optimal health and the healing of physical disease.”
I am willing to try anything to feel better and have a positive outlook in life. Here is a great video from Kris Carr where she talks about tapping and testifies how it helped her with public speaking.
Will you try tapping?
